50's Dyn-O-Mites



This recipe was submitted by sisters Lynda Works and Ellen Sylvia 

This was their mom’s, Irene Wheeler Tibbetts, recipe.


• 1 bunch of celery cut into 1/2 inch pieces

• 2 green pepperscut up small

• 2 to 3 large onionscut up small

• 3 cans of diced tomatoes 

• 1 medium sized bottle ofketchup 

• 1 cup of sweet relish

• Pinch of salt & pepper 

• Pinch of hot red pepper(if desired)

• 1 to 3 lbs. of 80%hamburg 


Place all ingredients in a large kettle and cook together. Stir occasionally. Cook for about 3 hours or until celery is cooked.


Dynomites will be thick and served on hamburg rolls or bread. This is a crowd pleaser at a family gathering!
